SPRING SCHEDULE

We will be splitting into 3 groups of 2 classrooms each as follows:

Group 1 - 9:00-10:00 Mrs. Choy and Mrs. Kinna
Group 2 – 11:00-12:00 Miss Henderson and Mrs. Bailey
Group 3 – 1:00-2:00    Mrs. McDonald and Miss Neale

The art classes will run for 3 Mondays in a row with Amanda leading the children in drawing on the first day and painting on the second day.

April 23rd, April 30 and May 7th.

We spent this weekend prepping all the wood blocks with a primer. These will be installed around the school.

Painting the Animals - Day 2

We talked about paint and colours, and mixed our own colours with the artist palette. The children thought about their drawings of animals and what colours they needed to mix to make their creatures come to life.  Working with their buddies they slowly started to paint. Some used First Nation art as inspiration and others used imagination. Together they started to fill in the wood panel.  Really great colour mixing! These reptiles and snakes started to pop off the wood!  It was so nice to see everyone interested and engaged in their animal paintings. Then we had to let them dry until the next week when we did the final touches.  I really love how they used so many colours, yet they didn't lose the animals that they were painting.  These three worked super together and came up with this mythical dragon and even painted the background and clouds.               I s...

Outlining and Finishing the Paintings - DAY 3

Here is a gallery of all the work the children did in the three times that we met. The last day we finished by outlining our paintings with silver, bronze and black sharpies. What a great accomplishment! We will be sealing them and installing them at the school garden shortly!  Thank you Selkirk annex teachers and students for the opportunity to make Spirit Animals with you as part of ArtStarts this year! You should all be very proud of yourselves!
