Amanda Lye - Visual Artist

Amanda Lye (Edgar's Mom) is a Visual Artist as part of the ArtStarts project and will be coming to the classrooms to further discuss and the First Nation artists that come to the Annex and make some Art together!

You can see these paintings in person at Sunset Community Centre from April - August 2018

Amanda's background is in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts. She studied Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, Langara College, and Emily Carr. She teaches art classes to children, coordinates Special Events in community centres in South Vancouver, and is a practicing Visual Artist. She has an art blog where you can read more about her past projects.

Amanda makes art and jewelry inspired by nature and also enjoys to take photos/document projects. This project is meant to connect the children to the land that they are on and to honour our Spirit Animals through art. She is looking forward to making art in the classrooms and outside as the weather improves "with a little help from my friends." Stay tuned as it unfolds!

Amanda will be working on the mural and planter box installation at Selkirk Annex this Spring 2018. To get involved with painting days/art classes email the PAC at selkirkannexpac@gmail.com or amandajlye@gmail.com
